We're still very much impressed with the iOS 10, and yet here comes another revolutionary operating system -- the Apple iOS 11!
The iOS 11 was launched at the WWDC (Worldwide Developer's Conference) last June 5, 2017 alongside the introduction of the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Chief executive Tim Cook and other Apple executives were able to brush over the new operating system's top features, including the safe driving mode, phone-to-phone payments and the augmented reality tool. If those iOS 11 features already sound way ahead of our time, wait till you hear the details.
On this bit, we're sharing with you some of the most talked-about iOS 11 features, a list of iOS 11 compatible devices and the iOS 11 release date .
Let's get started!
iOS 11 Feature 1: Siri Upgrade
With the Apple iOS 11, you can expect Siri to sound smarter. Apple's built-in intelligent assistant now has a more natural-sounding voice and you now have both male and female voice options. In order to achieve a more natural timbre, Apple figured out a way for Siri to say a certain word in different tones or pronunciation.
Siri is so efficient and sounds so much like an actual human being, you might just think of giving up what's left of your social life –don't. Oh, and if you've ever watched the movie 'Her', please don't go Theodore on Siri.
Okay, chances are you won't. Because reality is, an astounding majority still find talking to their phones a novelty. So if talking to Siri doesn’t float your boat, the Apple iOS 11 has a simple solution. Type to Siri! Apple understands that talking to a mobile device is not for everyone, which is why we can now engage with Siri in a more discrete way.
Just leave the talking to Siri.
With the Apple iOS 11, language barrier is but a thing of the past. On a tour in Japan? Order an authentic Japanese dish and have Siri say it for you. Not sure what exactly you're searching for? Just start typing and let Siri finish up for you with different word suggestions and typo corrections.
iOS 11 Feature 2: Apple Pay
Apple Pay allows you to send or receive money to and from your contacts through the new iMessage app. Apple Pay's person-to-person payment feature is available in Apple iOS 11 and is similar to PayPal and Venmo. With the iOS 11, you can now handle contactless monetary transactions safely and hassle-free.
All the money that you collect will be stored in your Wallet app in the form of Cash cards and you can use these funds for Apple Pay transactions. You can also transfer your funds to your bank account.
iOS 11 Feature 3: Driving Without Distraction
You already know you shouldn’t text and drive, but Apple is making sure you actually stick to it. With the new 'Do not disturb while driving' feature in iOS 11, Apple will shut off all notifications when you're behind the wheel and even send a message to those who are trying to get in contact with you, informing them that you are unavailable at the moment and will get back to them shortly.
On the other hand, if it's absolutely necessary (and by necessary, I don't mean googling "important" culinary hot spots along the way), you can always type the word "urgent", and it will deactivate the Do Not Disturb feature.
iOS 11 Feature 4: Turns iPad into a Laptop
'Travel light' is so much more feasible with the birth of the iPad, and thanks to the Apple iOS 11, having the iPad as laptop replacement is now more achievable. Just like the MacBook, iOS 11 includes a bar of icons, sitting at the bottom of the screen and provides easy access to your apps.
Plus, with the recently launched iPad Pro 10.5 and the trusty iPad Pro 12.9, there's really no reason to bulk up your suitcase.
iOS 11 Feature 5: Augmented Reality
We've all heard about the upcoming iPhone 8 to be well-versed in the AR world. Well, looks like the iOS 11 features are indeed hinting at that. With the Apple iOS 11, developers will be able to play around with virtual reality, giving us a much more advanced version of the Pokemon Go. With the use of our iPhone or iPad camera, we will be able to see virtual objects in the real world. So if you enjoyed catching Pokemons and were greatly impressed with the app, you better brace yourself for what’s to come.
